Charlie’s transformation into a muppet is nearly complete.
I HAVE WRITTEN A THOUSAND PERFECTLY CLEAR BLOG POSTS TODAY AND YET SOMEHOW PEOPLE STILL DISAGREE WITH ME
Kindle Fire reached Brooklyn!
And the fire just got home. It’s a bit heavier and smaller than what I expected but it seems pretty well done. The resolution is very sharp and the image is crisp
The setup is pretty straightforward and easy. It even knew my email address before I configured anything! Talk about good service.
Some UI notes
- Has a nice doodle at the beginning to explain how to get it started - doesn’t really need it because the design is very clean.
- Can’t really be used in landscape - the keyboard covers the entire screen when you’re in the browser
- I noticed bugs in layout in books. It will soon need an update
- the back button in the lower bar in the middle is not at all convenient. Bugs me every time I tap on it. Plus is often next to ads in the apps
- I fail to understand why so much emphasis on cloud/device buttons at the top. Maybe they’re useful later but now they just occupy a lot of space on the screen for nothing (and after you get used to the iPad this screen *is* small)
- the app store is very well done. The apps are very few unfortunately. The facebook app opens a browser. The apps button that takes you back to home page does a bad transition - gives you the impression that it goes forward.
Because I ordered the Kindle I got one month of PrimeTime and now I can stream videos for free. Amazon did a really great job with video streaming - it works pretty damn well.
Overall I think it’s strong Android platform - better than anything else out there - but I wouldn’t leave my iPad for it. The device is heavy, the screen is small and there’s still some work to be done in the UI.

We dressed some male models in nice suits and took them to Occupy Wall Street. It went okay.
And the award for the most misguided photo shoot goes to…
And what would Zombie Diana think of Occupy Wall Street if she were here now?
